Welcome To Our Parish Web Site

Managing, Improving, and Promoting Catholic Education At St. Thomas More School

Effective July 1, 2014, Noreen A. Bickel has been named the President of St. Thomas More School. She will retain many of her current parish responsibilities for finance, facilities, human resources, technology and stewardship.
Noreen holds a BS in accounting from Northern Illinois University, and has attended classes at the IU School of Philanthropy. Prior to being the Director of Stewardship at St. Thomas More, she was the Director of Development. In addition to other responsibilities, Noreen led the strategic planning process and the capital campaign to purchase the Weis Center.
Prior to starting at St. Thomas More, Noreen was the Controller at Silvon Software, Director of Financial Reporting at Morton Thiokol - Bee Chemical Division and on the audit staff at KPMG Peat Marwick.
The governance model of president/principal recognizes that meeting all of the responsibilities of contemporary leadership in a Catholic school is too much for one person. The design of the model relieves overload on the part of the principal and enables the principal to function primarily as the educational leader in the school.
So that the principal may function primarily as the educational leader, Noreen will be responsible for school development including alumni, public relations, governance, and strategic planning for the school.
The president/principal model has been in use the past couple of years at our diocesan high schools. We want to employ that same model at St. Thomas More so that our school can continue to provide excellent educational opportunities as well as the myriad extra-curricular activities that we offer our students.
Noreen and her husband Ron live in Munster and are parishioners of St. Thomas More. Their three children have attended both St. Thomas More and Andrean High School prior to college.
Our principal, Chet Nordyke, and our president, Noreen Bickel, are both very excited about working together to keep our school excellent and strong.
We ask you to pray for the success of this endeavor. We will keep you informed of the exciting opportunities this model will afford our students and their parents.
